Pregnancy

A Very Fashionable Pregnancy

Even though you’re probably overjoyed at the prospect of a new baby, you may have niggling doubts about your ability to appear fashionable throughout your pregnancy.  Even though pregnancy will undoubtedly change your shape, there’s no reason it has to change your sense of style.  Dressing well during the upcoming nine months is possible with a bit of planning and preparation.

While morning sickness and a burgeoning belly can present a temptation to dress in a tracksuit and trainers, you don’t have to resort to wearing them to be comfortable.  Stretchy fabrics such as knits, and those made with Spandex and Lycra, are just some options that offer comfort as well as style.  Skirts, trousers and jumpers that have some give will grow with you and prevent the need to buy new clothes each time you expand.

While women used to hide their growing pregnancy bellies underneath flowing blouses and dresses, maternity clothes today are often form-fitting.  Movies stars and singers often take pride in showing off their bellies with clothes that embrace their curves.  While you don’t have to choose midriff-baring options, you can feel free to wear jumpers and blouses that fit your body closely and emphasize your baby bump.

Dresses and tights are another option that keeps you looking smart during your pregnancy.  Dresses can be extremely comfortable and create a dressy look for a day out, an evening dinner party or a day at the office.  Choose coloured tights and flat shoes for comfort without sacrificing style.

If you’re a mum-to-be on a budget, build a wardrobe of separates that you can mix and match easily.  Choose two or three colours that go well together, and buy a skirt, trousers and jacket that can be interchanged.  An assortment of blouses in complementary colours will ensure that you’re never at a loss for something stylish to wear.
