Have Increased Maternal Deaths From Abortion In the U.S. After Legalization?
Despite the difficulties in reporting maternal deaths from legal abortion in the United States, there are several ways to show that the number of serious injuries and maternal deaths has increased since abortion was legalized nationwide in 1973. Here are some of them:
The Commission on Professional and Hospital Activities reported in 1969, about 9,000 women were hospitalized throughout the country to receive treatment due to injuries directly caused by an abortion. In 1977, this figure rose to 17,000, almost double the anterior23.
