Breast milk is best

Because of growing concerns about the presence of chemicals and other toxins in breast milk, the agency World Alliance for Breast-feeding Action Network and the International POPs (Persistent Organic Pollutants) Elimination Network said that: “The Studies have shown that breastfeeding, even in a polluted environment, has a positive impact on child development compared to artificially fed babies.

“In fact, breast milk contains substances that help the child develop a stronger immune system and additional protection against pollutants and other pathogens in the environment.”

Bisphenol and other pollutants

This makes us ask ourselves the following question: if the most perfect food in the world is contaminated, then what about the rest of the food we eat? For example, it was found in formula milk powder for babies of heavy metals such as lead, aluminum, cadmium and mercury, residues of chemical pesticides and fertilizers as well as plasticizers disrupting hormones.

An overall impact

Most people do not understand the real meaning of breastfeeding as a means of improving children’s health, but the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 1.5 million babies die each year simply because they are not breastfed.

To prevent a global tragedy, WHO developed in 1981 an International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes to prevent the marketing of milk substitutes, feeding bottles, teats and other paraphernalia associated with artificial feeding.
