With an innocent murmur heart
This is a minor disorder, but usually of great concern to the parents . Let’s see what exactly and why it occurs.
During childhood , it is common that a child is diagnosed once a murmur in the heart . In most cases, this is a casual event, which coincides with a visit to the doctor for another reason. In many cases, the characteristics of the breath allows the doctor to award it the epithet of “innocent”, ie safe, as it has no clinical consequence.
How is your heart?
• The heart is divided into two halves, separated by a partition that closes at birth .
• Each of these two cavities is divided in turn into two, the atria and ventricles, which are separated by valves that open to allow passage of blood from the atrium to the ventricle, and closing immediately to prevent blood from flowing back from the ventricle to the atrium.
• These valves, when closed, making a noise heard with the stethoscope of the doctor, and that is also seen to put his hand on the chest above the heart area, are the heart beat.
What is that?
• It may be that a valve is narrower than usual or not closing properly. It can also happen that the wall between the two halves of the heart is not completely closed at birth. These and other diseases are the cause of pathological murmurs, ie caused by an alteration in the heart.
• However, there may be cases where the heart is normal, ie there are no failures or narrowing or closing the valves, which, however, also heard a murmur, as a “buff” in the heart . It is then a noise out of the ordinary in a normal heart.
• In fact, it often happens that the breath is not pathological (disease-free) is heard only in special circumstances, for example, when the child has fever or is heard when the child is lying on the examination table and disappears when sat. These and other features rule out the disease and suggest the diagnosis of innocent murmur, a name sufficiently demonstrative of its safety.
• Despite that, many times, the doctor is convinced of the innocence of breath, you may request an opinion from a pediatric cardiologist, who, through his explorations, make a definite diagnosis.
Most, can lead a normal life?
• Clearly. The important thing is to know the existence of an innocent murmur, so that if, in future school medical examination or consultation by a doctor other than the usual, I point out, his response might be: “I know”, avoiding means knowing how scared, suddenly, that our son may have heart disease.
• It is also important to know that having an innocent murmur does not guarantee that the child can not suffer from heart disease in the future.
If, unfortunately, the small purchase one of these diseases, the nature of change blow, and will also have other symptoms.
